    ABSTRACT

    CATEGORIES

    Basic science

The Basic Science category welcomes abstracts that address the fundamental basis of mechanisms, clinical problems, or cellular determinants underlying HTLV-1 replication, persistence, and pathogenesis.  The approaches used can involve basic immunology and vaccine development, virology, host genetics and systems biology, latency and viral reservoirs’, novel treatment strategies, and animal models. This category aims to translate findings in the laboratory and clinic into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public from diagnostics and therapeutics to interventions and prevention.

    Clinical Research - ATL

The ATL category welcomes abstracts that address any novel or important data in the field of HTLV that relates to either the development of ATL or its clinical treatment. Abstracts may be from basic science through to clinical management, and include early detection of disease. This category aims to advance the scientific understanding of leukaemogensis, as well as current or future clinical applications.

Clinical Research - HAID (HTLV-1 associated inflammatory disease)

The research category of HTLV-1 associated inflammatory disease (HAID) welcomes abstracts involving epidemiology, familial aggregation, pathogenesis,  biomarkers, risk factors, treatment, clinical management, and co-morbid conditions of inflammatory manifestations that occur in the course of HTLV infection. Based on this important debate, we hope to advance on issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of these serious complications associated with HTLV.

    Prevention, Epidemiology and Public Health

This category includes HTLV prevention and health promotion initiatives, the surveillance and epidemiology of HTLV, as well as behavioural, social and biomedical research on HTLV. This category aims to highlight and promote research and practice into new prevention tools, improving the delivery of existing prevention approaches, and measuring the impacts of prevention options on HTLV epidemics among key populations.

    Social Science & Community Forum

The Social Science & Community Forum category welcomes research-based and practice-based abstracts that address social, political, cultural aspects and experiences influencing HTLV transmission, prevention, treatment, and care. Patients and patient advocates are also welcomed to share their experiences throughout their journey of HTLV diagnosis and potential obstacles experienced. The main objective of this category is to discuss a diverse range of perspectives, contributing to improved care of people living with HTLV (PLHTLV) and the elimination of this virus.
